I AM GLAD TO SEE you are HERE

Lindsey is a retired academic and clinical therapist. She describes this time as her third life. Her first life was family, school and university. Her second life was working in hospitals, day centres and universities. Her retirement is a third life, where she can travel, reflect on people and events from her past and write brief semiautobiographical stories. She considers that what is special about a third life is that without the regular demands of a job, each day becomes a creative venture, with what she describes as ‘oceans of time’.
This website is a repository of her writing, past and present. She invites the reader to enjoy the tender moments of the stories or consider their resonance with her experience of being born in a colonial country (Southern Rhodesia) and having lived in 4 countries, including apartheid South Africa. She recognised, during her PhD, that her life and memories were complex and contradictory, and that to be true to what had happened can be painful and shameful to recall. It is with this exploration that Lindsey keeps the narrative as honest as she is able to.
